Our History

In 1979, David Auyoung and James Tansley started up Aero Heat Exchanger as an industrial coil and aircooler manufacturer. David's experience as Engineering Manager for linear freezers at Lewis and James' manufacturing know-how formulated a promising partnership. With the increasing market demands for vegetable and fruit IQF freezers, Aero Heat Exchanger evolved into a global tunnel freezer manufacturer.

By the 1990s, Aero Heat Exchanger became one of the world’s largest tunnel freezer manufacturers supplying to major processors in the vegetable/fruit, French Fries and protein industries.

In 1998, Aero Heat Exchanger was rebranded as Aerofreeze and entered into the spiral freezer market. With easy-to-clean and robust designs, our spiral freezers were readily accepted in the hygiene rigorous industry. In a span of ten years, our constant developments and drive to meet customers’ needs have led us to become one of the largest spiral freezer suppliers.

In 2007, Aerofreeze joined the GEA Group family under the Refrigeration division. With GEA Group’s global networks in industrial processing, Aerofreeze plans to expand its market presence. Aerofreeze Europe, based in France has been established to focus on the European market.
